Inquilab - Ajj Vi Khawab


Driven by its gratitude towards the sacrifice of great freedom fighters and revolutionaries Shaheed- E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, Department of Mechanical Engg. Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology organized a function “Inquilab-  Ajj vi Khawab” on Mar 21, 2011 to commemorate their Shahidi Divas (Martyrdom day).  The college paid rich tributes to these three revolutionaries who laid down their lives so that their posterity can see the dawn of Independence by organizing Inter College Poem Recitation and Debate Competitions. Students from all the colleges of BFGI debated and recited poems depicting the revolutionary thoughts of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and these competitions evoked great interest among all the dignitaries and students attending the programme. The Chief Guest of the function was Prof. Jagmohan Singh,  nephew of Sardar Bhagat Singh and presently serving as Head, Dept of Computer Science Engineering , Sant Baba Bhag Singh Institution of Engg and Technology, Padhiana. S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, BFGI, Mrs Paramjit Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Administration, BFGI, Mr. Harpal Singh, Deputy Director, BFGI, Dr. Jasbir Singh Hundal, Director- Principal, BFCET, Principals of various colleges of BFGI and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. The judges for these events were Prof. B. D. Sharma, Head, Dept of Career Guidance and Counselling, Prof. Dr. Lok Nath and Mr. Kulwinder Singh. Chief Guest was formally welcomed by our Managing- Director. While remembering Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Mr. Dhaliwal said that Bhagat Singh has done phenomenAL job in India’s freedom but we should question it to ourselves that what we are doing to fulfill his dreams toward his India. He highlighted the need to re-establish thoughts and vision of Bhagat Singh in the present times.
Speaking on this occasion, our guest of the honour Prof. Jagmohan Singh added that we should always remember the heroes who have made supreme sacrifices by laying down their lives for their countrymen. The noble sense for which our martyrs lived and died should be brought home so that our youth imbibe those values that teach us to be true and dedicated in our efforts. Our efforts should be such that not only the present generation, but our progeny should feel proud of taking birth on this sacred land. He also shared enlightening details related to the lives of various freedom fighters.
Dr. Jasbir Singh Hundal, Director- Principal BFCET, paid homage to Shaheed- E- Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, reflected upon the morals and ideas of his life and urged the students to emulate the path shown by him. He said it is important to work selflessly. On this auspicious occasion Deptt of Mech Engg also launched their student body named ‘ACME’ (Association of Competent Mechanical Engineers). Prof. Manish Goyal, Head, Dept of Mechanical Engg formally introduced the aims of this students body to the all present & formally inauguration of the society was done by Prof. Jagmohan Singh & S Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal. A documentary depicting the life history of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, prepared by Vineet Garg, a student of Civil Engg, was also presented to salute this great martyr. The students of BFCET added charm to this function by presenting some cultural items like Choreography, Malwayi Giddha and Patriotic songs to demonstrate that passion which Bhagat Singh had in his blood. Prizes were given to the winners. In Poem Recition competition 1st position was bagged by Gurdas Singh, a student of Baba Farid College of Education, 2nd position by Navjot Singh from Baba Farid College of Engg and Tech and 3rd position by Gurpreet Singh Mann from Baba Farid College of Management and Technology and Debate competition was won by Navjot Singh from BFCET, 2nd position by Jitender Singh from BFCMT and 3rd position by Jobanpreet Singh from BFCMT. The students who won positions in Inter College Athletic Meet and participants of Zonal Youth Festival organized by PTU were also awarded with the certificates of appreciation. In the end, Vote of Thanks was delivered by Er. Kulbir Singh Sandhu (Convener of the Function), A.P. in Dept of Mech Engg. The stage was successfully conducted by Er. Ajay Sidana(Lect., ME), Lect.Kuljit Boparai (Deptt.of Applied Sciences).
